Verbal message is one of the types of message. Then, we need to know what is message, first.
Message -- interaction among people by using verbal and non-verbal languages.
- There are 2 types of messages, verbal and non-verbal.
- Verbal message - using words to communicate with others and to describe thoughts and feeelings, verbal messages consist of oral and written words.

I. Principles of Verbal messages
- Message Meanings are in People
- While we are talking with people, bypassing is happened between us. Bypassing is the miscommunication between speaker and listener.
- Bypassing is happened when people use different words for the same meaning. For example, one person said, " I hate riding roller coaster". But, the other said, " Riding roller coaster makes me dizzy". Actually they both don't like riding roller coaster, but they used different words to describe their feelings.
- Another reason is because of same words for different meaning. (e.g. "I'm not used to use smartphone" and "I'm very well in using Samsaung".) In those sentences, they are using same things (smartphone and Samsaung) for different meaning.
- Messages/Languages are Denotative and Connotative - Denotative refers to the meaning which is from the dictionary.
(e.g. star: http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/star?q=stars )
- Connotative refers to the emotional meaning.
(e.g. star - China flag, Myanmar flag, etc.)
- Snarl words - highly negative (words such as idiot, loser, stupid, and so on)
- Purr words - highly positive (words such as sweet, great, cool, dream and so on)
